Baxter International Inc. is a global healthcare company with headquarters in Deerfield, IL. The company primarily focuses on products to treat hemophilia, kidney disease, immune disorders and other chronic and acute medical conditions.

 

Baxter contacted StructureTec because the only roadway leading to and from the Marion, NC plant was failing and impeding traffic flow. StructureTec engaged our pavement engineers to design 25 year cross section for the roadway. Due to the plant's location, it was a challenge to find sufficient qualified contractors to perform the work.

 

StructureTec took ownership of the pavement remediation project via a construction management program and implemented full time field coverage, testing and quality control. The only window to perform pavement reconstruction was during a 10 day plant shutdown. If the deadline was missed, 3,000 employees would not be able to enter the facility for their shifts.

 

However, once work began, StructureTec mandated extended working hours and unique construction phasing that would ultimately help completed the project two days ahead of schedule.

 

The completed roadway was delivered under the bid amount and the highest quality pavement cross section was constructed, ensuring 25 years of service life.
